Food from Istanbul


These are fried rolls with salty white cheese inside.



Dolma


The Turkish national liquor is raki, an anise-seed brandy that magically turns white when mixed with water. It doesn't taste good but has the advantage of being very strong.


The scale of Aya Sofia is hard to describe but here's one tiny snapshot of the inside.


The Bosphorus bridge here connects Europe and Asia in Istanbul. Both sides are pretty fully populated but people seem to look down on the Asian side.
