Even more pics

Fancy Yerevan coffee and dessert place.

By far the best and most exciting kind of khachapuri, the khachapuri Acharuli. Your eyes do not deceive you, that is an over-easy egg and a pat of butter melting on top of a boat-shaped dough pie. Inside of it is a ton of melted cheese. It's amazing.

The entrance to our Tbilisi hostel was marked by a pair of headless lions. Katie thought one of them might like to have a head.

Puri is baked when a brave and slightly insane man leans way down in the hot kiln and slaps some dough on the side (the dough goes all the way down the kiln). After a few minutes, he uses a combination of two metal sticks and sheer magic to lift out the loaf.

Fresh-baked Armenian puri bread can be used as a hat against the rain. But not for very long.
