Finally! Pictures from Turkey
We happened to be in Istanbul during April, the International Istanbul Tulip Festival. There was a ridiculous number of tulips all around town. If you'd like an entire album of tulip pictures, Amy and I will be happy to provide it.
The Aya Sofia is probably the most famous symbol of Istanbul if not all of Turkey. It has been a mosque for five hundred years, a church for a thousand years before that and is now doing a stint as a museum.
The typical Turkish breakfast. The containers are all manners of jams -- including my new favorite, Rose jam! -- and honey along with a chocolate hazelnut spread. Load of soft freshly baked bread is omitted from the picture. Another new favorite: fresh bread with butter and honey. It's just crazy enough to be delicious.
Turkish coffee. Needs no explanation. You can imagine how much I drank.
Even more notable: Turkish tea. Comes in pretty glasses like these. Consumed in vast quantities. Cube of sugar optional.

I had the bread with butter and honey for many breakfasts growing up.
